Zane Davis Brings The Heat In Pueblo

At the National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) Hackamore Classic in Pueblo, Colo., competitors showed in the second of three preliminary events, the herd work. The rider at the top of the results sheet in the Open division is Zane Davis, of Blackfoot, Idaho, who has both the first- and second-place horses under his saddle.

Leading the field of Open contenders after two events is Brother Jackson (Peptoboonsmal x Shes Icing Onthe Cat x High Brow Cat), owned by John Semanik. The 2009 stallion has a composite 293.5 (145.5 rein/148 herd) on two events. His 148 herd work was the high score of the day.

Davis’ second-place horse is Rubys Radar (One Time Pepto x Ruby Bagonia x Peppy San Badger), a 4-year-old stallion owned by Billie Filippini. Rubys Radar has a 292.5 (146.5 rein/146 herd) total so far, and he won the rein work round Wednesday in Pueblo.
